Of course, there’s life beyond the personal growth programs, and PISI offers a rich variety of events to fill the hours you don’t
spend learning personal growth techniques. We regularly host concerts by local bands, along with a wide selection of plays, art
exhibitions, and exciting games played by all of our sports teams. Check this page for regular updates on upcoming events.

A Vision for PISI
PISI will be a place where:

all young people get a good start in sport and recreation;

people of all ages have high quality, enjoyable opportunities to stay involved in sport and recreation throughout their lives;

all sports participants have opportunities to improve and achieve their personal sports goals;

people will be encouraged to adopt a healthy lifestyle through active living, including those who are socially
disadvantaged.

PISI is supporting and funding the development of a sport program because it makes a positive contribution to the economic,
social and environmental well being of the local area, the quality of life and the promotion of healthy lifestyles. A sport program
can pay huge dividends in terms of improved health, social inclusion, community safety, realizing everyone’s potential, lifelong
learning, environmental sustainability and regeneration.

Promoting a Healthier Lifestyle
PISI recognizes the importance of sport and recreation to the community and aims to encourage participation by all parts of
the community, either through the direct provision of safe, suitable and good quality services or indirectly by supporting the
efforts of other organizations and individuals. By raising the quality of sporting facilities in these ways, PISI aims to promote
healthier lifestyles for people.
“It may seem insignificant to say a word or two, but when it is encouragement, what wonders it can do!” –K. De Haan
PISI goal is to acquire land to build a sport complex for all seasons.
It would include: Indoor softball, baseball, football, kickball and
soccer fields, Golf driving ranges, Walking track, etc. PISI depend
on the generosity of its donors to enable it to build new venues to
provide valuable services. The draft illustration demonstrates how
the first phase of the Multi-sport Complex will look.

PISI promote activities, self awareness, and pride for ones own local community. PISI typically offer recreational, educational,
and social activities for people of all ages. Often times, PISI target marginal and/or low-income areas and are located in either
rural or inner city areas.

The Recreation program is a community program which provides services and programs for everyone. The mission of PISI is
to improve the educational, physical, cultural, and social aspects of local communities and surrounding areas. PISI provides a
safe place for the community to enjoy personal entertainment and activities.
Recreation is an activity of leisure, leisure being discretionary time. The "need to do something for recreation" is an essential
element of human biology and psychology. Recreational activities are often done for enjoyment, amusement, or pleasure and
are considered to be "fun". The term recreation implies participation to be healthy refreshing mind and body.
Recreation is difficult to separate from the general concept of play, which is usually the term for children's recreational activity.
Children may playfully imitate activities that reflect the realities of adult life. It has been proposed that play or recreational
activities are outlets of or expression of excess energy, channeling it into socially acceptable activities that fulfill individual as
well as societal needs, without need for compulsion, and providing satisfaction and pleasure for the participant
Recreation is an essential part of human life and finds many different forms which are shaped naturally by individual interests
but also by the surrounding social construction. Recreational activities can be communal or solitary, active or passive,
outdoors or indoors, healthy or harmful, and useful for society or detrimental. A list of typical activities could be almost endless
including most human activities, a few examples being reading, playing or listening to music, watching movies or TV,
gardening, hunting, hobbies, sports, studies, and travel.

Why is recreation and leisure important?
Recreation is important in promoting quality of life.

It increases self esteem and confidence.

Gives people the opportunity to make their own choices.

It gives satisfaction, enjoyment and pleasure.

It enables us to become involved and feel part of the community.

It increases the opportunity to gain and develop new friendships.

It allows us to be challenged, take risks and experience new things.

It bridges the gap between attending and participating in the community.

It allows people to contribute their skills and feel a sense of belonging and accomplishment.

It promotes friendships through shared experiences.
Healthy Lifestyle
One way to get a healthy active lifestyle is to start with a healthy meal. Try eliminating some of the unhealthiest foods, or
making some substitutions. Overall, it is best to eat a meal made up of a lot of fruit, vegetables, whole grains, and lean protein
such as chicken or fish. It is difficult to lead an active lifestyle without eating a healthy meal, because it will be difficult to get
enough energy to exercise. Get creative while cooking, and try to make new recipes with healthy ingredients; it is always
possible to find new favorite foods. Again, be sure to drink enough water every day, and to try to quit unhealthy habits such as
smoking or excessive drinking. Many people also choose to take a daily multivitamin to make up for any deficiencies in their
diet.

The second part of a healthy active lifestyle is exercise. A regular exercise routine, such as working out at a gym, going for a
daily walk or jog, or doing some regular weight lifting, is an essential part of a healthy active lifestyle. There are other ways to
incorporate exercise into everyday life; for instance, take the stairs instead of the elevator, park further away from the door
when driving somewhere, and take a break from work to go for a walk.

People of all ages can incorporate regular exercise into their lives to develop a healthy active lifestyle. Many people who lead
active lifestyles also enjoy outdoor activities such as hiking, kayaking, or skiing, which can be great ways to have fun, make
new friends, and get in better physical shape. Leading a healthy lifestyle is a great way to lose weight and maintain that weight
loss over time.

Creating a healthy lifestyle doesn't have to mean drastic changes. In fact, drastic changes almost always lead to failure.
Making small changes in how you live each day can lead to big rewards, so figure out what you can to be healthy today.

The trick to making small changes...taking more steps, adding fruit to your cereal, having an extra glass of water...these are
just a few ways you can start living healthy without drastic changes.
